Dear Miss Smith,
I would like to personally thank you and your school for hosting a fantastic visit for international visitors from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland last week.
The partners were visiting as part of a series of visits for an ERASMUS project, looking at teaching and learning and teacher’s professional development in a variety of education settings, and their feedback was incredibly positive. All of the partners remarked on the interesting and inspiring practice that they had observed, the well behaved students, and the warm welcome that they had all received.
The education systems in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are quite different from the current UK education system, and the diversity of schools and settings was something that most of the partners had never experienced. At the end of the week, the partners felt the strength and focus of the learning community in Leeds, and that the entire Leeds learning community is focused on the wellbeing of every child, regardless of the type of education setting.
The atmosphere of learning in every school and setting was held in high regard, with partners being particularly impressed with the focus of leadership and teaching not only on the achievement and progress of pupils, but also on their social and emotional development.
Thank you for the preparation and organisation of the morning. They were able to see the whole school and were impressed by the ethos that runs throughout, as well as spending longer in Y2 and Y6. It was lovely to be joined on the tour by two pupils who are such keen and knowledgeable advocates. The visitors were particularly interested in the IRIS cameras and how you use these alongside coaching to develop your staff. The visitors went away with information you had prepared and many ideas to take home, and they fed back it had been extremely useful.
We will be in touch after half term regarding the reimbursement for your school for the time dedicated to supporting this international project.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew Eastwood
