Lord Mayor
In April we were visited by the Lord Mayor of Leeds! She came to deliver an assembly talking about what it was like to be a Mayor and what she had to do. The children really enjoyed her visit and she was impressed by the children’s behaviour. She’s invited all the children to enter a competition to come up with a fund raising idea to raise money for her charity – Candlelighters. Candlelighters is a children’s cancer charity based in Leeds who support families facing children’s cancer across the entire region of Yorkshire. The children needed to either write a letter or design a poster showing what event they would organise in school to raise money.
Ethan Hudson in Year 4 was the worthy winner for his idea for a Games Fundraising Day in school. Ethan, along with the runners up were invited to have a tour of the Civic Hall, followed by afternoon tea with the Lord Mayor. This proved to be a very special day out. Ethan's Games Fundraising Day will be held at school later in the year. Well done winners!
