Phonics and Reading

Reading and Phonics at Rosebank

Reading is important for so many reasons. Here are some of the reasons we think your child should read every day:

  • It's fun
  • You can learn new information
  • You can escape to an imaginary world
  • You can learn new words
  • It helps you sleep
  • It helps you with all your learning in every subject
  • You can read signs and information all around you
  • It helps with your writing skills

All children have access to our school library every week and can take books home to enjoy either on their own or as a family.  All children will bring home at least one reading book each day and a reading record. We ask all parents to support their child in completing their reading record at least 3 times a week.  Please follow the links below to find out further information about out Reading and Phonics policies.
